New redevelopment scheme for Buck Street (Camden Market) is set to be unveiled on Thursday 7th of June 2018.

The plans include retaining a market on the site that is in keeping with the character of the local area alongside a community of independent retailers, street food and social enterprises in transformed recycled shipping containers,

Site owners Lab Tech say they will now apply for planning permission to build a three-storey market using the containers.

The project is the brainchild of architect Eric Reynolds, who was one of the pioneers of Camden Market in the 1970s and whose firm Urban Space Management has used containers elsewhere for simple solutions.

This temporary use, anticipated to last for approximately five years, will retain jobs on site as well as a market in keeping with the history of the area. It will also mean that the market can have a more diverse offering than is currently the case.
