Electric Hotel

Electric Hotel

Using recycled shipping containers for its structure, the Electric Hotel is a bold, innovative and sustainable performance venue... and possibly Britain's first multi-storey, moving Theatre.

Constructured by Container City and Fuel, Electric Hotel is a uniquely designed, fly-by-night hotel brought to vivid life through dance and sound by the team of David Rosenberg(director and co-founder of Shunt) and Frauke Requardt (choreographer, Pictures from an Exhibition at Sadler's Wells / Young Vic) with Börkur, Jónsson (designer, Woyzeck at Barbican, Metamorphosis at Lyric Hammersmith).

With a nod towards 1920's Bauhaus Architecture, the 2,200 sq. ft, 4 storey building is clad to resemble an ageing concerete structure with asymmetric lines, exterior hand rails and a fully glazed frontage to allow visitors complete visual access.

Sitting on the outside looking in, the audience snatch glimpses of the do-not-disturb lives unfolding behind the floor to ceiling windows. Wearing headphones to eavesdrop on the internal spaces of the building they watch the residents in their private rooms: the natural habits, the unnatural fantasies and housekeeping of wildly varied quality - a truly unique experience for the voyeur in us all!

The Electric Hotel will be touring to Norwich, Bristol, London and Brighton on various dates in May, June and July 2010.

Dunraven Sports Hall

Innovative, sustainable, and eyecatching are just some of the words that have been used to describe the new sports hall at Dunraven School in South West London...
